History
While Mannaheim VA was focused more on traveling and meeting/greeting other Heathens, Mannaheim MD has been focused more on Environmental Issues. One of our kinsmen is the Steward of Greenbelt Park, in Maryland.
Contact Tom for more information about additional Environmental Volunteering Opportunities.
Pictures
Below are some pictures from some of the Environmental Projects that various members of Mannaheim have been involved with.
The first two pictures are from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project Web Site.
On numerous weekends, Jones Point, and other locations were the sight of frenzied activity by many volunteers (including Burt and Tom) who successfully saved countless native plants from pre-bridge construction.

This portion of Four Mile Run is near the undisturbed mud flats further up river where some of the wet-land plants were relocated.

Chapman's Forest is an old growth forest that is slowly being cleared of invasive plants so that native species (and the birds and animals that depend on them) have a chance to survive. Burt, Jeff, Mark and Tom all have put in countless of hours helping Marc Imlay, the Steward of the Park, and others to nurture this forest. Marc is always looking for volunteers. Be prepared to walk long distances, bring your own tools and rations, and see some of the most breathtaking old growth forest you can imagine!
