We in Mannaheim have each adopted a set of values that is openly inspired by the thews and virtues of the modern Heathen community, adapted slightly to fit our tribal model.  While attending Starwood 2008, several of us had the opportunity to sample a bit of the hospitality of our Normannii brothers at their camp.  They were not found wanting.

As most of our associates already know, one of Mannaheim's primary activities outside of the Hof is invasive plant removal in some of the MD/VA region's public lands.  In addition to the hard work done by our very own environmental leaders, we also provide many of the tools and other supplies used by the volunteers.  Sadly, these tools eventually wear out and gloves never find their way back to us after use.

For those of you who have old shovels, pitchforks, loppers, and/or work gloves that you are getting rid of, please consider donating them to Mannaheim so we can continue the good fight!  These tools will be put to use attacking English Ivy, barberry, and a variety of other invaders of our natural lands.

How should I dress?

As you like. Most of us dress pretty casual. Shoes occasionally optional.

What if I'm late?

Join the crowd. We really TRY to start on time. We rarely succeed. Regardless, just come anyway. Our schedules and our rituals are informal and nobody will mind.

Where do I go?

We hold our gatherings in a warehouse in Springfield, VA. Click here for directions to Mannaheim.

Once you get there, come up the stairs, through the door, and take the door on the left. This is the main room where we gather, socialize, and eat. Unless we're in ritual, there should be people present. If we ARE in ritual, follow the noise and come on in!

Can I bring kids? Can they stay with me?

Absolutely! Kids are allowed wherever their parents are, and can also stay in the kids' entertainment room if you arrange it with the room monitors.

OK, I came, and I want to come back.  How do I know what's going on?

Most of our events are posted to the online Google calendar and listed on our "Newsflash" section of these pages.  To be sure you hear about everything, though, join our mailing list!  Click on "Mailing List" on the menu at the top of this page, and you'll find more info.

Greenbelt National Park    -   First Saturday of every month

Located just 12 miles from Washington D.C., Greenbelt Park is a beloved retreat from the city and an important refuge for native plants and animals.

Come join us in defending Greenbelt Park from encroachment by alien invasive plant growth. Volunteers will be hand pulling harmful non-native plants such as Japanese stiltgrass, beefsteak mint, and mile-a-minute weed. You are invited to spend a fun day outdoors while learning about the differences between native and non-native plants and helping to preserve the health and native wildlife of this local natural area. Bring lunch, drink, appropriate clothing for weather.

From the Beltway: take Kenilworth Ave exit south (or west?). In about 1/4 mile is Greenbelt road, MD 193. You want a left on Greenbelt Rd, but need to stay to the right to get to the overpass. Just 100-200 yards to the park entrance; when entrance road ends at a T intersection, take a right. We meet at SweetGum Picnic Area, about 100 yards on the left.
