Spirit Voices attacks periwinkle, begins management of new project. Undaunted by predictions of a cold morning and high temperatures barely above freezing, several members of our environmental expeditionary team met at Little Paintbranch Park in Beltsville on Saturday (16 February, 2008). Joined by Marc Imlay of the Southern Maryland Native Plant Society, his wife Alice and some hardy volunteers, over the next three hours the group launched a sequence of attacks against periwinkle (Vinca Minor) and discussed future plans. As it turned out, the weather reports were badly mistaken and most of the weed warriors had doffed their coats by a little after noon. |

Let me talk about the significance of "charming the plow". On a farm, you plow what you intend to plant. What size field or garden are you willing to commit to planting? Watering? Harvesting later? Just like the farmer, so must we as individuals, family, and church judge our resources for the upcoming year. We should aim to take on responsibility and commitments that are sustainable. Like a farmer who removes the rocks the plowing has uncovered in the field, let us remove the obstacles that lay in the way of our success. We "charm the plow" to help us judge how much we want to produce this year; to reveal and remove those obstacles. Let us congratulate ourselves on this past year. Think on all the great things that we have accomplished and continue to accomplish as individuals, family, and as Mannaheim. |

Some basic information...How should I dress? As you like. Most of us dress pretty casual. Shoes occasionally optional.
What if I'm late? Join the crowd. We really TRY to start on time. We rarely succeed. Regardless, just come anyway. Our schedules and our rituals are informal and nobody will mind.
Where do I go? We hold our gatherings in a warehouse in Springfield, VA. Click here for directions to Mannaheim.
Once you get there, come up the stairs, through the door, and take the door on the left. This is the main room where we gather, socialize, and eat. Unless we're in ritual, there should be people present. If we ARE in ritual, follow the noise and come on in!
Can I bring kids? Can they stay with me? Absolutely! Kids are allowed wherever their parents are, and can also stay in the kids' entertainment room if you arrange it with the room monitors.
OK, I came, and I want to come back. How do I know what's going on? Most of our events are posted to the online Google calendar and listed on our "Newsflash" section of these pages. To be sure you hear about everything, though, join our mailing list! Click on "Mailing List" on the menu at the top of this page, and you'll find more info.

After many months of discussions, Mannaheim is now incorporated in Virginia. There are still a few hurdles left, but it is expected that Mannaheim will have its own bank account and be able to receive tax-free donations by April, 2008. Much effort has been made to put Mannaheim’s style and structure on paper. “We’re not just a church or a charitable group… we’re a community and our paperwork should show that,” Mannaheim is applying for incorporation as a 501(c)(3) religious nonprofit organization. |
